Don’t want to pay any more money!

Fairly smooth sailing overnight. A few small bumps but I don’t know if these were when the ship docked or higher seas. The breakfast buffet had an amazing variety of foods. We said goodbye to Kieran and Ryan and packed our bags for the next stage of our trip. Went to a local cafe for a while and left when it started to get busy. Wended our way down to the port snapping a few things on the way. Of course we arrived at the terminal very early but were there when our ship, the Kong Harald, arrived. A relaxed start today before heading out to take the funicular up the hill for great views of the city. We took a walk thrthe forest around to a pretty lake complete with ducks and a baby snake. Lunch was taken at a food festival which had lots of different foods in tents on the way back to our apartment ( no photos). A more leisurely day today with a later start. The day started out sunnily but there was some “clumping precipitation “ by the time we ventured out. Not enough to deter us and we made our way up to Hangurstoppen riding on the Gondola. Spectacular views! We had intended on having lunch up the top but it was a bit pricey so went to the supermarket on the way back and had a wander around the shops before spending the rest of the day at our apartment, playing Qwirkle and Spades.

Low lying cloud when I looked out the window this morning! Its a lot quicker going down the hill to the town centre than going up to where we’re staying! Off to the station looking around as I went. First leg was the standard train from Voss to Myrdal. Then the Flamsbana train down to sea level Flam, where there was a huge cruise ship docked. Dramatic music and dancing at the waterfall stop. Goodbye Oslo! Off to the station to renew our puzzlement about the horses adorning various areas. We whiled away the time on our 6 hour trip with eating, snoozing, reading and playing Canasta. And, of course, looking at the scenery. Then we had a gruelling walk with our luggage up the side of a hill to our apartment for the next 3 nights. We were relieved overnight to know that our doggies were now at the long term sitter and had settled in nicely. After a leisurely morning we set off on a tram to the Vigeland Sculpture Park. Back into town and grabbed some sandwiches fir picnic lunch at the waterside before looking at the Opera house area and some people watching. Dinner at home with varios dishesfrom the local shop, qwirkle and a stroll to the waterfront before a nightcap at a neighbouring bar.

Overnight we were pleased to learn that the dogs were now with their sitter and were well settled. A big relief and we’re so grateful to A’s cousin and her husband. After a relaxed start to the day we headed off on a tram to the Vigeland sculpture park to see the famous sculptures - a fairly bizarre collection mostly of human figures. Our first full day in Norway. We’ve got a well located apartment not far from the central station. Lots of cafes, bars etc and little grocery stores. First stop is the cafe under our apartment. Weve made it to Oslo! Cloudy and a bit of rain but livable. Thankfully after Tuesday’s drama all went smoothly. Well, we're off again. House sitting sorted, cat at cattery, and dogs at temporary holiday until regular sitter available (we hope). A roller coaster couple of days but we're off today. Monday night repacked my suitcase so all ready apart from last minute things - a shine on my halo! Microwave died Tuesday in the middle of heating A's dinner - thankfully for some forgotten reason we had a spare, so not a calamity! Had a call late morning to say the ukulele teacher was sick
