Monday

Went to the amazing Team Lab Planet for an assault on the senses. Walked on a variety of surfaces and through water, amazing graphics or balls or hanging icicle lights. It was wonderful.

Headed to the Ginza shopping district for lunch and a look at Itoya - two buildings of all sorts of stationery items with beautiful paper, cards, pens (some worth a king’s ransom) and lots of other wondrous things.

Phillip’s birthday present from Sue and Malcolm was a session driving Mario Carts around Tokyo. He and Malcolm left Sue and I in the stationery store to go off and do this. They had a wonderful time and Phillip declared it to be one of the best birthday presents he has received. Thank you Sue and Malcolm.

Sue and I made our way back separately after spending more time at Itoya, navigating back to Shinagawa on our own. Had another wander in the Wing upmarket supermarket to buy some fruit and then did a spot of people watching over a glass of wine until Phillip and Malcolm returned.

Dinner was another cultural experience at a little Ramen restaurant under the railway station. We had to order our meal at a machine as we came in the door. (The photos are in reverse order).

Tomorrow we join our tour and will do some more traditional activities.
